Raiders quarterback Derek Carr isn’t usually the kind of guy who shows any signs of emotion, so sending out a angry tweet is not something fans would normally see. Until this morning when Carr, 27, challenged ESPN First Take’s, Stephen A. Smith to fight in Dana White’s octagon.
During Wednesday’s episode, Carr’s name came up during a discussion about who should be the Raiders quarterback of the future. Co-host Max Kellerman speculated that the Raiders might want to trade their fifth-year quarterback after this year’s 4-12 season. At one point, Kellerman seemed to suggest that Carr had lost his competitive edge. Although Carr is signed through the 2022 season, speculation began going crazy over head coach Jon Gruden’s praise of Kyler Murray at the Senior Bowl over the weekend.

Apparently, Carr wasn’t too happy about being called a quitter, because he sent out a very interesting tweet to UFC president Dana White.
@ufc @danawhite hey how do I challenge a couple of these clowns on tv to a fight? I think we should start a business together. Where pro athletes can challenge some of these people to an octagon fight until they give us an answer…. You don’t know me… stop lying.

Kellerman’s words must have hit Carr where is hurt cause he followed up with this tweet:
Yes..say what you want but don’t question somebodies character as a man if you don’t know them. Our job as NFL athletes is to try and leave the game better for the next generations. So let’s start an octagon business to give some accountability to these kinds of people. 😉😂👊🏼

First Take host Stephen A. Smith had a tweet of his own:
Hey @derekcarrqb…..I heard you had a few things to say. Consider this a personal invitation. You are more than welcome to come on @FirstTake or sit down with me for a 1-on-1. I’m here, Bro! Nobody hiding.

No word yet on whether Carr plans to take him up on that offer.
