Earlier this week we reported on rapper Travis Scott agreed to perform at Super Bowl LIII with a strong stipulation for the NFL.

The condition, a joint donation to a charitable cause. In partnership with the league, Scott will make a $500,000 contribution to Dream Corps, a non-profit organization that champions social justice.

After the announcement was made, Variety reported that Scott had consulted with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick before he confirmed his Super Bowl appearance. Sources told the outlet that the duo had at least one phone conversation prior to Scott accepting the offer.

In response to the report, HOT97’s Ebro Darden tweeted, “Kap did not approve this bullshit! Get the f–k outta here….”

A source close to Travis also allegedly told a source that “while the two did not necessarily agree, they emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding.”

Kaepernick went on to retweet Darden’s post, as well as a tweet from girlfriend Nessa, a HOT97 regular.  Nessa’s tweet read:

“There is NO mutual respect and there is NO understanding for anyone working against @Kaepernick7 PERIOD. #stoplying.

Nessa also replied to Darden’s tweet, writing, “FACTS @EBRO!!! THEY NEED TO STOP LYING.””

A source from Scott’s camp told TMZ, although he respects Colin, “Colin doesn’t tell Travis what he can and can’t do. That’s Travis’ decision.”
