Wednesday morning Ben Roethlisberger told reporters from his locker that he reached out to Le’Veon Bell before Tuesday’s 4p.m. reporting deadline, “I texted him, saying I hoped he was going to show up and if he decided not to, I wished him nothing but the best, he was a great teammate and football player.”
“To each their own on what they want to walk away from,” Roethlisberger continued, making it clear he was ready to move the conversation in a different direction.
“The thing about it is he’s not here, he’s not going to be here, so we don’t have to talk about it,” changing the focus to the Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.
By not reporting before the deadline, Bell forfeited the 2018 season as well as $14.5 million in earnings on the franchise tag.
