Ex-NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly six years, a little more than a year after it surfaced he fathered a child, with his mistress, according to The Blast.
In court documents the former NBA star filed a petition for dissolution of marriage with minor children against his wife, Alexis Welch. The former couple share four children together: Ar’e. Amar’e Jr., Assata and, Alijah.
Together since the early 2000s, the two finally made it official with a wedding in 2012.
It should be no surprise the duo split, after it was revealed Stoudemire fathered a child with a Florida woman named Quynn Lovett, in 2016.
In April 2017, Lovett sued Stoudemire for paternity and sought child support for a baby girl named Zoe Renee.
Stoudemire admitted he could possiblty be the father, and that he had been paying the woman temporary child support without a court order. In October 2017 a DNA test confirmed he did was infact the baby girls father, he currently pays $4,333 a month in child support.
Stoudemire who made $161 million during his 15-year NBA career, has a lot at stake in the divorce, although the two have reportedly signed a pre-nup.
Currently the former first-round draft pick plays in Israel.
