The Kyler Murray Decision

The Kyler Murray Decision @tnd.studios

The Oakland Athletics selected Kyler Murray with the ninth pick in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft and gave him a $4.66 million bonus. The verbal agreement was that he would finish out his college career playing football for Oklahoma Sooners. Then he won the Heisman. Now NFL teams are digging through film and trying to look past his 5’9” frame. They are convinced that he will play football over baseball.

“A lot of it comes down to what’s in your heart, what’s your passion, what you can be excited to do for this next chapter of your life,” Henson told ESPN in a phone conversation Thursday. “Do you like watching film more than you like hitting in the cage? Are you willing to give two seasons to staying in small towns and hotels and grinding it out and struggling and playing in front of 500 people when guys you dominated in college are playing on Monday Night Football?” – Drew Henson, former Michigan QB and New York Yankees prospect

What will Murray’s first move be? His report date to A’s spring training is February 15th. He has declared for the NFL draft in April. It would be tough to pass on first round NFL money. The current alternative is riding a bus in the minor leagues. However the long term with baseball could have more potential financially.

Two Teens Facing Three Years in Jail After Vandalizing UCLA Bruin in USC’s Colors @latimes

According to the LA Times, two teens have been charged with vandalism following an incident that took place on the UCLA campus in November 2018.  Wednesday prosecutors charged Louie Raider Torres, 19, of Studio City, and Willie Saul Johnson, 18, of Van Nuys, with felony vandalism that resulted in more than $10,000 in damage to the large bruin statue on Nov. 13.

The pair have been accused of tagging the UCLA mascot with red and yellow paint and writing “SC” on its base.  Prosecutors have determined the duo pried open a wooden case that was protecting the Bruin Bear on the UCLA campus around 2 a.m. Nov. 13, and the statue was doused with red and yellow paint. The destruction was discovered days later.

If convicted as charged, both defendants face a possible maximum sentence of three years in jail, the district attorney’s office announced.

Is the ‘Drake Curse’ a Real Thing?

Is the ‘Drake Curse’ a Real Thing? @champagepapi

Fans have been joking on social media after Clemson won the College Football Playoff National Championship, saying rapper Drake jinxed Alabama.

After the new year, the rapper posted a video wearing an Alabama sweatshirt talking about resolutions, “All that resolution stuff is great. All that mental talk to yourself is great. But what you got to do on the 1st, you got to get up and actually do it,” Drake said in the video.

After the post the Alabama football Twitter account shared the video, captioning it, “Get your mind right! Motivation from Drake repping Bama!”

Alabama fans quickly went on the attack commenting about the video, saying that they didn’t want his endorsement because he’s “bad luck.”

On January 3rd, ESPN joined in on the fun asking fans if Alabama would be the next victim of the ‘Drake Curse.’ The tweet was accompanied by a picture of the Toronto native wearing sweatshirts of different teams he has supported.

Unfortunately for the Alabama football team, they did lose the National Championship last night to Clemson, 44-16.

So we have to ask, real or not?
