The divide between Prince Harry and his brother (and heir to the throne of England) Prince William has never been starker.
Ever since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided to step back from royal duties, it has been clear that the royal family was happy to throw them under the bus and focus all family drama on the pair.
In a new Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan opened up about what the exit from royal life felt like – and the many insults they endured along the way.
Now Harry isn’t holding back, and he’s telling his whole truth in an upcoming memoir.
Which involves the volatile but often publicly staid Prince William attacking Harry.
It’s a shocking revelation that somehow isn’t surprising in the least.
In a leaked excerpt from the upcoming memoir of Prince Harry called “Spare,” the younger son of Princess Diana and now King Charles says things went beyond tense and confrontational. They turned downright violent.
People reports, “The incident, which The Guardian says resulted from William confronting Harry over ‘the whole rolling catastrophe’ of his relationship with Meghan Markle, is said to have taken place at Harry’s London home in 2019.
When William arrived at Harry’s home of Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace — known as ‘Nott Cott’ — Harry claims his older brother was already ‘piping hot,’ according to the report.
Harry then claims William called Meghan ‘difficult,’ ‘rude’ and ‘abrasive,’ to which Harry replied that his brother was simply ‘parrot[ing of] the press narrative’ about his wife.”
According to The Guardian, William then said Harry was acting like an heir, at which point they insulted one another. William said he was just trying to help, to which Harry replied, “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”
People continues, “After giving William a glass of water, Harry said: ‘Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.’
It was at this point that the argument escalated into a physical confrontation.
‘He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast,’ Harry writes in Spare, reports The Guardian.
‘He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.’”
Harry says that William urged him to fight back, like he has as a boy, and left.
He returned later “looking regretful” and apologized. As he was leaving, William turned to Harry and said, “You don’t need to tell Meg about this.” Harry says he replied, “You mean that you attacked me?”
“I didn’t attack you, Harold,” William said, according to the younger brother.
After the attack, Harry sought help from his therapist.
Harry initially tried to hide the incident from Meghan, but admitted the truth when she noticed scrapes on his back.
The Guardian says Harry explains, “(She) wasn’t that surprised, and wasn’t all that angry. She was terribly sad.”
Harry’s memoir is expected to be released January 10, and is expected to be both brutally honest and heartbreaking.
The same can be said of the documentary of Harry and Meghan’s exit from royal life, which broke hearts around the world as they explained the threats they faced, the uncertainty and fear, and the heartbreak that followed their exodus.
The documentary can be found streaming on Netflix.
