After 11 years together, Columbian star, Shakira and Gerard Piqué are calling it quits. The couple who never actually married released a joint statement on Saturday, June 4, 2022, “We regret to confirm that we are separating,” the statement read. “We ask for privacy at this moment for the well-being of our children, who are our maximum priority. Thank you in advance for your understanding and respect.” The couple share two children, Milan, 9,  and Sasha, 7.

The news comes just days after Spanish media reported that Piqué was having an. alleged affair and that the couple had been living separate.

According to El Periodico, Pique was meeting with a young 20-something blonde, who is a student and an event hostess in Barcelona. While her identity has not been revealed the report also claimed Piqué was seen with this woman several times and that Shakira found out about this. The outlet also reports that Shakira and Pique haven’t been seen picking up the kids together for some time.

It is even alleged that Shakira took the children to Ibiza for a family holiday in May, but that Pique didn’t join them.

Until they announced their split it was believed that Piqué was living on his own in an apartment and was reportedly in Andorra, where he owns FC Andorra.
