Less than 24 hours after winning a pair of Grammys for Donda, Kanye West has pulled out of his much-anticipated Coachella headlining slot. First reported by TMZ a source also confirmed to Variety that West is no longer playing.
Just last month the rapper was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after comments he made about Trevor Noah, which got him banned from the Grammy’s.
While the reasons remain unclear, West suggested in February that he would cancel his set if fellow headliner Billie Eilish did not apologize to Travis Scott. West believed that Eilish had insulted Scott—whom West intended to bring out at Coachella—when she paused a show to help a fan, not long after the Astroworld tragedy. Eilish said she “literally never said a thing about travis” and “was just helping a fan.”
In addition to battling Eilish, he’s taken shots at his ex, Kim Kardashian, her new boyfriend Pete Davidson among others.
The festival is set to take place April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California. As of now, the headliners are Eilish and Harry Styles. Though, Swedish House Mafia are billed as special guests on the Coachella poster.
