The media began publishing stories that slander Markles name along with the couple’s relationship. It got so intense that Harry became involved in “nightly legal battles” to try and stop it. On November 8th, 2016 he published a formal statement to the public which wrote “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game.’ He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”
However, Meghan managed to tune out the noise by not reading anything that came up, both positive and negative opinions. She shared with BBC “It just didn’t make sense and instead we focused all of our energies just on nurturing our relationship.” And that’s exactly what they did. The couple married on May 19th, 2018 and now share their first child, Archie. Meghan is also pregnant with baby number two. But with all of this exciting news, came struggles which led to the duo stepping back from their senior roles within the palace.
