Life is tough for Bill Belichick in New England at the moment.
After 20 seasons of consistency and winning with Tom Brady, the Patriots are now 2-4 with Cam Newton at the helm. Newton started off the season extremely hot in the first two games, making his case for NFL MVP talks. His next three games weren’t nearly as good, putting him alongside some of the poorest performing quarterbacks in the league.
Newton’s skilled players have a lot to do with it — Jakobi Meyers, Ryan Izzo and Damien Harris were the best players at their respective positions last week. Things got worse on Thursday, after it was announced that Julian Edelman will be out for a period of time following a knee procedure. To make things worse, 2019 first-round receiver N’Keal Harry will likely miss Week 8 with a concussion.
