The defense lead the D.C. Defenders to a 2-0 start to the XFL. With the help of QB Cardale Jones, the team earned its second win of the season by defeating the New York Guardians.
Jones posted a solid stat line against a stout NY defense going 23 of 37 pass attempts for 276 yards and two touchdowns (1 INT). However it was the Defender defense that carried the load. The D.C. defense forced three Guardian turnovers, including two interceptions of former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin.
The Defenders held New York to 137 total yards while registering 384 yards of offense.
